• Chapters 2 & 3 of Karp contain background biochemistry of chemical bonding, carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids, bioenergetics and enzyme properties. Similar topics are found in Alberts in Chapters 2 & 3 and in other chapters for nucleic acids. All students in this course should be familiar with this basic biochemistry. Please read these chapters to insure your knowledge and to determine if you have a significant deficit in your biochemical background. If so, please see Dr. Berezney as soon as possible. It will be very difficult to do well in this course without a good understanding of this biochemistry.
• The powerpoint lecture slides for Dr. Berezney’s lectures can be downloaded from our Department website. Click on courses to Bio 402 or 502. Other instructors will post their presentations here or at other informed locations.
