Student responsibilities
Students are required to take 3 "in class" quizzes and a final examination.
All quizzes and the final exam are "open book", and will consist of
multiple-choice type questions. In addition, each student must hand in a five
page double-spaced typed paper. The paper should explain in your
own words the effects and side effects of some drug. The paper is due on
Nov. 30. No late papers will be accepted. The course grade is based on
the following formula:
each quiz = 15%; paper = 15%; final exam = 40%. However, there is a special
caveat associated with the final exam. The final is comprehensive over the
entire course. Because of this, the final can count as 100% of your grade if
it is to your advantage. In other words, if for example, you get an "A"
on the final you get an "A" in the course regardless of your class quizzes
and paper grades.
Plus/minus grading will not be used in the course. The breakdown of
grades is as
follows:
90 - 100% = A;
80 - 89% = B;
70 - 79% = C;
60 - 69% = D;
<60% = F
